This oolong tea comes from the Sun Link Sea mountain region in Nantou, Taiwan, an area known for producing fragrant high-mountain teas. The cooler climate and misty growing conditions allow the tea leaves to develop deeper aroma and a smooth texture before they are carefully processed.
After oxidation, the leaves undergo extended roasting, a traditional finishing step used in many Taiwanese oolongs. The roasting deepens the character of the tea, bringing forward warm toasted notes while softening the brighter floral qualities of the leaf. Rather than overwhelming the tea, the roast adds balance and body.
